The young American Ben Shelton, one of the most promising tennis players in the world, received the third wildcard to participate in Estoril open 2023, the biggest tennis event in Portugal, which starts next Saturday, April 1 at the Clube de Ténis do Estoril facilities.
“I am very excited to go play the Millennium Estoril Open. I want to thank the organization for the opportunity to play in the tournament and step on land. It will be my first time in Europe and I can’t wait to visit Estoril and Cascais”, said the young tennis player.
Ben Shelton is just 20 years old, the son of former pro Bryan Shelton, and interestingly enough, only turned pro last year. Before, he dedicated his life solely to studies. Since then, he has had a meteoric rise, currently presenting his best ranking (39th), being the youngest American tennis player in the top 100 and considered the biggest revelation of the current season so far, after his passing through open from Australia.
Ben Shelton is the last wildcard of the tournament, after this Wednesday Roberto Bautista Agut, Spanish tennis player, obtained the second wildcard for this edition of the Estoril Open. Remember that the Portuguese João Sousa received the first wildcard be at the event.
