England women’s footballers’ concerns about matches during menstruation prompted that country’s federation (FA) to change kit, replacing traditionally white shorts with blue ones.

“We want our players to feel they have our support on this matter and we ask international tournament organizers to take this into account and allow more flexibility in equipment combinations,” the body said in a statement.
The concern and discomfort expressed by the athletes at the last European Championship, in 2022, won for the first time by the English, in the center of Wembley Stadium, by playing with the period, prompted the federation to act and now left the team to line up in full white to switch to blue shorts.
The new equipment will be used in Friday’s Final, which sees England take on Brazil, champions of Europe and South America respectively, at Wembley.
In England, Manchester City, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea had already taken the option of changing their traditional kits to meet footballers’ requests.
