Spanish Carlos del Cerro Grande officiates match between Inter Milan and Benfica

The Spanish Carlos Del Cerro Grande will referee the match between Inter Milan and Benfica, in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, on Wednesday, UEFA reported today.

In the match at the San Siro Stadium, in Milan, starting at 8:00 p.m. (Lisbon time), Del Cerro Grande will be assisted by Diego Barbero and Guadalupe Porras Ayuso, who in September became the first Spanish woman in the men’s ‘Champions’.

The referee of the video will be Juan Martínez Munuera, assisted by Alejandro Hernández.

Benfica visits Inter Milan with a 2-0 deficit in the first leg at the Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon, where the ‘Nerazzurri’ went ahead with goals from Nicolo Barella, in the 51st minute, and Lukaku, in the 82, with one foul.

This will be the third time that Del Cerro Grande has refereed a Benfica match, after having been in two previous Champions League matches, in the away defeat against Zenit Saint Petersburg (3-1), in the group stage 2019/2020, and in the away win against Ajax (1-0), in the round of 16 of the 2021/22 season.

This season, this Spanish referee was involved in the defeat suffered at home by Sporting de Braga against Fiorentina (4-0), in a play-off game for access to the round of 16 of the Europa Conference League.
