This Sunday, Benfica will seek to return to the winning ways against Estoril Praia, in the 29th round of the Portuguese Football League, to recover the leadership advantage of FC Porto and Sporting de Braga.
The ‘incarnated’ have lost their last two games in the championship, against FC Porto (2-1) and Desportivo de Chaves (1-0), and have gone four consecutive games without winning, also counting the games with Inter de Milan in the Champions League (one loss and one draw).
In the worst phase of the season, Benfica receives Estoril Praia, a team that comes from two consecutive defeats and is in 15th place in the championship, the first to guarantee direct maintenance.
Roger Schmidt’s team knows that only a win will allow Benfica to regain their four-point lead at the top of the league, as they enter the field one point ahead of FC Porto and three points ahead of Sporting de Braga, teams that Paços de Ferreira and Casa Pia have already won this round, respectively.
Also scheduled for today is the duel between Arouca, fifth with 45 points, and Vizela, eighth with 39, important in the fight for places to access European competitions, in addition to Portimonense’s reception of Gil Vicente and the match between Santa Clara , last classified, and Desportivo de Chaves.
