Benfica won the Portuguese Basketball Cup for the 23rd time this Sunday, beating Imortal 75-74 in the final of the 2022/23 edition, at the Sines Municipal Pavilion.
The red team, which at half-time was already leading 43-35, added their first victory in the competition since 2016/17, in a game decided by a free kick by Tony Douglas, with 5.9 seconds remaining.
In this way, Benfica, who defeated FC Porto in the round of 16 and Sporting in the semifinals, reinforced the leadership of classification of the competition, with 23 trophies, against 14 for the dragons and eight for the lions, winners in 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22.
