Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the highest-paid sportsman in the world, ahead of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, on a podium composed only of footballers, North American magazine Forbes announced on Tuesday.
According to the publication, Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Portuguese national team and currently with Al Nassr, in Saudi Arabia, receives 136 million dollars (123 million euros) annually in salary, prizes and bonuses at his club, as well as sponsorship and use of his image off the field.
Just behind the Portuguese is Lionel Messi, world champion with Argentina and striker of Paris Saint-Germain, with 130 million dollars (188 ME), followed by the Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, also a PSG player, with 120 million dollars (109 ME).
LeBron James, with $199.5 million (108 ME), had just stepped off the podium and is the “richest” basketball player in the top 10, ahead of Stephen Curry, eighth, with $100 million (90 ME), and Kevin Durant , 10th, with $89.1 million (80 ME).
