Messi apologizes for trip to Saudi Arabia and says he is prepared for the consequences

The Argentine Lionel Messi guaranteed this Friday that he is prepared for any decision that PSG, the club he represents, makes about his future after having suspended the player after a trip to Saudi Arabia without the consent of the French soccer champion.

“I want to apologize again to my teammates and the club,” Lionel Messi is heard in a video broadcast on the world champion’s social networks for Argentina.

In the brief statement, Messi says that he “sincerely” thought that the PSG team would be “out the day after the game” that the Parisians lost to Lorient, in Ligue 1 (3-1), as had happened before.

The player later explains that he “had this trip to Arabia scheduled and had previously canceled it”, something he cannot do again, eventually doing so.

“I apologize for what I did and I’ll be here for what the club decides,” he guaranteed. Last Tuesday, the player was suspended for two weeks for the trip he made under a contract with the Saudi Arabian Tourism Office, the country in which the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr) operates.

This disciplinary procedure comes at a decisive moment for Messi’s future at PSG, since, after a period erased in recent weeks on the pitch, his contract with the club from the French capital is coming to an end.

The 35-year-old world champion has scored 15 goals so far this season in Ligue 1, his second in Paris.

With five days to go in the French League, PSG leads the competition, with 75 points, five more than Marseille, in second place.
