Guardiola angry at Manchester City’s postponement due to Eurovision Song Contest

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola complained on Friday about the postponement of the match at Everton’s ground from Saturday to Sunday due to the holding of the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, the city where the match will also take place.

This delay leaves the citizens with less recovery time until Wednesday’s game against Real Madrid, which counts towards the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals.

Guardiola preferred his side to take the field at Goodison Park against Everton on Saturday as originally planned. But for safety reasons, the game was moved to Sunday.

“Basically, we can’t play on Saturday because of Eurovision or something like that in Liverpool. Sometimes there aren’t enough (security) troops to manage two important events.” mocked the coach.

“There’s not much to do because we have to play on Sunday. Thank you very much. I don’t understand, but I’m not going to fight for this anymore,” he added.

Premier League leaders Manchester City can win three titles this season as they are still alive and kicking in the Champions League and FA Cup.

Real Madrid will face Getafe in the Spanish league on Saturday and will have one more day of rest on Wednesday before the decisive game.

In the first leg, Real and City played a draw at the Santiago Bernabéu.
