Barcelona won its 27th Spanish football title this Sunday by beating Espanyol 4-2, in a match corresponding to the 34th day of the competition, with four days to go until the end of the championship.
Four seasons later, Barça, led by Xavi Hernández, a benchmark for the club for his 17 uninterrupted seasons in the first team, was once again proclaimed champion by winning the title with 85 points, 14 more than Real Madrid, which was passing second on this day, taking advantage of the defeat (1-0) against Atlético de Madrid at the home of Elche, lowering the mattresses to third place.
Knowing already that they would be proclaimed champion in case of victory, Barcelona entered at full speed and reached the end of the first half winning 3-0, with goals from Lewandowski (minutes 11 and 40) and Alejandro Balde (minutes 20). A goal from Jules Kounde (53) prolonged the win, while Javi Puado (74) and Joselu (90+2) mitigated the defeat of Espanyol, who is still in a difficult situation in the championship, occupying 17th and penultimate place, with 31 points
