Liverpool beat Leicester and still dream of the Champions League

Liverpool beat Leicester 3-0 at home today in the 36th round match of the English Football League and remain in the race for a place in the Champions League next season.

Curtis Jones (33rd and 36th minutes) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (71st) scored the redall from Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, in a game that saw Diogo Jota released in the 74th minute and Fábio Carvalho in the 85th minute.

With their seventh consecutive Championship victory, Liverpool remained in fifth place with 65 points, one behind Newcastle (third) and Manchester United (fourth), who occupy the last places of access to the champions and have played a game less.

Liverpool, six-time European champions, has played in the Champions League in the past six editions.

Without winning four games, Leicester, champions in 2015/16 and with Ricardo Pereira in the starting line-up, occupies 19th and penultimate place, with 30 points, two behind Everton (17th), the first team in maintenance.
