The Portugal futsal coach, Jorge Braz, world champion and two-time European champion, has renewed his contract with the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) until 2026, the organization announced.
Jorge Braz, who will lead the team in two qualifications for the Eurocup (2024 and 2026), and one for the 2024 World Cup, took over in 2010 to replace Orlando Duarte.
Speaking to the FPF press office, Jorge Braz, 50, was “proud” of the reform, which he considered “a recognition of the work done.”
“It is an immense pride. A very special feeling to have this recognition and, above all, to see the willingness that the FPF shows to continue trusting me and our national technical team”, he said.
The coach, contractually linked to the FPF since 2007, promised work and assumed the desire to win more titles: “There is never anything to achieve from what we have done up to now and, apart from the important results achieved in recent years, of which we are very proud of, there is always much more to do”.
The president of the FPF, Fernando Gomes, who also today renewed the contract with the women’s soccer coach, Francisco Neto, highlighted the work of both in the national teams.
“In the field of what has been our stability policy, in the relationship with the technical teams, in this case of women’s football and futsal, I leave here a few words of recognition and thanks for the excellent work that both have been doing”, Gomez noted.
The federation leader assumed the will to “continue glimpsing the future and allow Francisco Neto to participate and lead the team to a new World Cup, which will be in 2027, and for Jorge Braz to extend their relationship until 2026, the year in which another Championship will take place of Europe for Futsal”.
