Liga spoke with clubs and PSP to allow the derby to run smoothly

The Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) met this Friday with Sporting and Benfica, who face each other on Sunday, for the 33rd round of the I Liga, and PSP, to “run smoothly” the derby with the necessary rest.

“Aware of the importance of the match and the special context surrounding it, Liga Portugal is making every effort, together with the organizers of the event, to ensure that the match, referring to the 33rd round of the Liga Portugal bwin, goes with the requisite composure”the organization said in a statement.

The LPFP also appealed “to all supporters who behave responsibly, to dignify the event and help the authorities to ensure that the game takes place within the principles of urbanity and fair play”.

During the weekend, in the penultimate round of the championship, the reds can secure the conquest of the 38th title of football champion in their history.

The encounter between lions and eagles is scheduled for Sunday, at Estádio José Alvalade, from 8:30 p.m., and around 45,000 spectators are expected, with the fence doors opening two hours earlier.

Benfica are crowned league champions for the 38th time as they beat fourth-ranked Sporting by 70 points.

Benfica, which is four points ahead of FC Porto, second, can secure the title on Saturday, however, if the blue and white lose to Famalicão.
