Five fans were arrested on Sunday before the opening whistle of the Lisbon derby between Sporting and Benfica, which ended in a 2-2 draw, on the 33rd and penultimate round of the Portuguese 1st soccer league.

As a police source explained to Lusa, one of the fans was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon, two for resistance and coercion, one for attacking the physical integrity of an agent of authority and the last for disobeying the ban on access to sports venues. with all arrests to take place even before the start of the meeting.

In addition to these, two sympathizers were also identified due to the possession and use of pyrotechnic devices, and the surveillance was carried out “as planned”, with several small incidents resolved quickly with swift police intervention.
