On the other side of the table, European Vitória de Guimarães ‘reigned’, recording 106 yellow cards, six red cards from accumulation and four direct, for a total of 116 warnings.
Santa Clara, with 113 cards (106+4+3) stayed close, while Marítimo closed the podium with 109 (99+4+6). Paços de Ferreira (108), Desportivo de Chaves (108), Boavista (107) and Vizela (101) also surpassed 100.
Individually, midfielder Ricardo Martins Guimarães, commonly known as Guima, who represented Desportivo de Chaves, was ‘tenacious’, with a total of 19 cards, 17 yellow cards and two straight red cards.
Guima wins overall by six cards over Guima’s Ibrahim Bamba and Tiago Silva, and was also the ‘king’ of the yellow cards, with five over Bamba, Delgado (Paços de Ferreira) and Pedrão (Portimonense).
On the red, eight players reached twos, with Reggie Cannon (Boavista) being the only one to see two reds on accumulation, while Opoku (Arouca), Renê Santos (Marítimo) and Guima saw two straight reds.
