This Saturday, FC Porto was crowned national handball champions for the 24th time, the fourth in a row, by winning 33-25 against Madeira SAD, leading Sporting by one point in the 26th and final round.
The ‘Dragons’, who already won 18-15 at half-time, after losing most of the first half, still had an advantage in the head-to-head confrontation with the ‘Lions’, who won against Maia/UMaia today, by 32-23.
FC Porto has dominated the history of Nacional handball since 2018/19, adding four consecutive titles – in 2019/20 the championship did not come to an end due to the covid-19 pandemic -, with 11 wins in the last 14 completed editions.
The ‘blue and white’ formation finished the championship with 75 points, resulting from 24 wins and only one draw, away from Sporting, and a defeat against Águas Santas, in the first round.
