Miguel Oliveira returns to competition this weekend at the Italian GP

The Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira returns to competition at the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix, the sixth race of the World Speed Championship, which takes place this weekend, the RNF Aprilia team announced on Tuesday.

“This long-awaited event marks the return of Miguel Oliveira and [do espanhol] Raúl Fernández”, advanced the team, in a statement, informing about the recovery of the two runners from the injuries suffered.

The Portuguese rider, born in Almada, “really wants to go to Mugello”, after having missed the French GP after a fall suffered on the fourth lap, in Spain, caused by the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) and which caused him fractured left shoulder.

“The biggest unknown is knowing how I am going to be physically and how I am going to be able to ride a MotoGP on a circuit as complicated as this one”, Oliveira stressed.

The Portuguese pilot admitted that “in recent days” he felt “an improvement” in the fracture suffered in the shoulder, which he hopes will be “enough” to allow him to “arrive and be competitive.”

“That is the main objective,” underlines Miguel Oliveira, quoted in the team’s statement.

Of the five races already held this season, the Portuguese driver was forced to miss two (Argentina and France), due to injury, as a result of falls caused by the rivals.

The first occurred in the opening race, in Portimão, after being hit by the Spanish Marc Márquez (Honda).

Oliveira was absent from the Argentine GP due to a tendon injury in his right thigh.

He returned in Austin (United States) to be run over again in Barcelona (Spain), by Quartararo, failing the next race, at Le Mans.

“I know I need more experience on the bike and I need more races, but right now the priority is to come back strong and 100%. I’m going to Mugello with that in mind and I hope we can have a good weekend, I’m looking forward to meeting the whole team”, concluded Miguel Oliveira.

With five races already played, the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) leads the championship, with 94 points, one more than his compatriot Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati), who is second. Oliveira is 17th, with 21.
