Liverpool sign Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister

Liverpool confirmed on Thursday the signing of Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who played for Brighton, without disclosing the length of the contract and the amount involved in the transfer of the 24-year-old footballer.

In statements released by the club, in which the Portuguese Diogo Jota and Fábio Carvalho line up, the world champion with Argentina assured that the transfer to Liverpool “is a dream come true” and he was “very eager” to start work.

“I wanted to be at the club from the first day of pre-season so it’s good that everything has been sorted out. I’m really looking forward to meeting my teammates,” said Mac Allister.

The player, who becomes Liverpool’s first signing for next season and will wear the number 10 shirt he has been wearing without an owner since Sadio Mané left, said that after a very good season it is time to think about the new challenge .

“It’s been a fantastic season, both for the World Cup [vencido] for Argentina, in terms of what I achieved in Brighton. Now it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player every day”, said the player, who played 40 games in the 2022/23 season and scored 12 goals.

Although the club does not give figures, the press reports that the ‘Reds’ will have paid 35 million pounds (about 40.5 million euros) for the player, who was at Brighton since 2019 and had a contract until 2026.
