Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) General Assembly president Mário Costa said on Monday he is confident it will be confirmed that he has not committed “any criminal offence” after his home was searched.

The residence of the President of the LPFP General Assembly was one of the locations targeted by searches carried out as part of an investigation by the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF).

A judicial source told the Lusa agency that one of the search sites was Mário Costa’s home, and another a football academy in Riba D’Ave, Famalicão municipality, Braga district.
Expresso’s website stated that Mário Costa had been charged by the Public Prosecution Service and that they were suspected of human trafficking.
In a statement, the SEF confirmed that “an operation was underway in the Greater Porto area to comply with various search warrants”.
