It is undoubtedly the star of VivaTech, which opens its doors this Wednesday for three days. On Friday, the owner of Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter, Elon Musk, will be at the Parisian tech fair for a highly anticipated panel discussion.
“It seemed important to me that a personality like him, who is also quite controversial, can explain his options, his choices, and discuss what he has achieved, because he has achieved extraordinary things,” says BFM Business Maurice Lévy, the head of the show, who will host the round table.
A consensus Musk?
Specifically, Elon Musk is expected at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Porte de Versailles. For the occasion, VivaTech has decided to think big by setting up, for this hour of debates, in the Dôme de Paris, with a capacity for 4,000 people.
Accustomed to provocations, we will probably have to wait for a more consensual Elon Musk for this express visit to Paris. His Twitter social network is being targeted by the European Commission, which promises to expel him from Europe if he does not comply with the new community rules, effective August 25. Clearly, he will need reassurance.
Another great topic of the round table: artificial intelligence, at the heart of this 2023 edition of VivaTech. Co-founder of OpenAI (which he ended up leaving), Elon Musk is obviously heavily involved in these issues. Last March, he was one of the signatories to an open letter demanding a moratorium on AI.
Next investments?
A fear that did not prevent Musk from creating, a few weeks later, his own start-up in the matter, called X.AI.
Finally, Elon Musk could be asked about his other industries: automotive with Tesla or space with SpaceX. On the first topic, the businessman already visited France during the Choose France event in mid-May, then promising “important investments in France”.
On Wednesday night, the Élysée announced that the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, was also going to meet the billionaire this Friday.
Elon Musk’s round table will be followed live on Tech&Co and BFM Business this Friday.
