Cyberattacks have multiplied in recent months and the United States is no exception. According to CNN, several federal agencies of the US government have been the target of a global cyberattack. No name of the affected agency has been revealed by CISA, the US agency specializing in cybersecurity and infrastructure security, which declines to comment on the origin of the cyberattack.
Other attacks in recent weeks
While the number of agencies affected by the attack was not provided, the scope of the problem could still be significant. In fact, the cyberattack would be part of a larger movement led for several weeks by a group of Russian-speaking hackers, known as “CLOP.”
The group had claimed responsibility for the attack at several large companies, including British Airways, Shell and the BBC. However, other hacker groups could also have accessed the gaps left by the MOVEit software, which allows you to transfer files, and which seems to be at the origin of the attacks. The company also asked victims to update their software.
Other US administrations have also been affected, such as hospitals or universities. Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore said in a statement that personal information and bank details may have been stolen during the attack.
