Having a good internet connection in the metro when passengers watch series will be possible thanks to a Wi-Fi connection available on all trains and stations of the Grand Paris Express, reports the specialized media. The Digital Factory.
The Grand Paris Express is a large-scale project that will connect the different Parisian suburbs with each other. Thus, line 14 will be extended and lines 15, 16, 17 and 18 will see the light of day. These projects will last until 2030. The trains will be equipped with Wi-Fi as soon as the lines open, but also with 5G.
Wi-Fi access will be free, provided you register on the dedicated service portal. This will allow partner networks to target advertising.
The first equipped stations will be those of line 14, since it will be the first to operate within the framework of the 2024 Olympic Games. It will join Orly airport in Saint-Denis.
About the airport model
To deploy and operate the Wi-Fi network, Hub One, the private network operator of the Aéroports de Paris group, was selected by Société du Grand Paris. The operator will also be responsible for ensuring the entire Internet network of Grand Paris Express, such as security sensors, air quality, and maintenance.
Such a project will require the installation of several thousand terminals, which are supplied by the Cisco company and face multiple technical limitations, particularly for connection on trains. Hub One already provides Wi-Fi connection at Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle and Orly airports with more than 2,000 terminals.
