Can this shirt go in the dryer? Should these pants be washed at 30 or 40 degrees? These doubts, the next version of the iPhone operating system wants to make them disappear. With iOS 17, Apple phones will have the ability to decipher logos on clothing labels. The maintenance instructions will no longer have any secrets.
When a user takes a photo of a label with these types of logos, new information will appear in the snapshot data, explains the specialized site MacRumors. As seen in screenshots posted by MacStories reporter Federico Viticci on Mastodon.
Identify logos in a photo
To access this information, simply drag a photo up in your phone’s gallery. Currently it is possible to find the geolocation of the photograph as well as the technical specifications of the device.
But with iOS 17, visual recognition will be improved and identify snapshot elements. When the phone identifies textile care instruction logos, a dedicated category will be displayed. Clicking on it will detail pictures to help wash, dry and iron your clothes properly.
The new version of iOS also promises to recognize pets. As now happens with the human models, the photos can be classified according to the cat or dog that appears in them, within their different albums.
Currently in testing phase, iOS 17 will be available when the next generation of iPhone is released, which is expected as every year in the fall. Its main novelties were detailed at Apple’s WWDC conference in early June.
