5 gigatacos or 50 burgers eaten… YouTuber Alan FoodChallenge accused of rigging his videos

YouTuber Alan FoodChallenge regularly posts videos showing him chewing large amounts of food. Another youtuber, Théo Malini, claims that he cuts his videos while editing. In response, the interested party makes an appointment with his subscribers for a live challenge.

Videos edited from scratch? The French youtuber Alan FoodChallenge is accused by another youtuber, Théo Malini, of manipulating videos posted on his networks in which he appears eating gigantic amounts of food. The interested director acknowledges a manipulated video, but assures that she is “the only one” in this case.

The one who calls himself “the crazy eater” has been posting challenges or “food challenges” on his YouTube channel for six years, but also on Instagram or Tiktok. The principle remains the same: eat a huge amount of fast food to impress your subscribers -more than 836,000 on YouTube, where it has 150 million views-.

cuts in the videos

But some of these videos would be completely staged, according to another youtuber. Théo Malini, followed by more than 680,000 people, accuses Alan, in a video posted Thursday on his own channel, of deceiving his fans.

To illustrate his comments, Théo Malini stages himself eating a brioche, spitting out each piece, sequences that he later cuts during the editing.

“When would Alan need to spend a large amount of time pasting a (cut) video every time he has something in his mouth?” Theo Malini pretends to wonder, implying that this is a ploy by Alan to hide that it isn’t. swallowing all that he claims.

“Alan no longer makes his videos in public,” underlines the distrustful youtuber. “(Alan) does them at home, in a very controlled environment. (…) It is impossible to know how much time passes between a cut and another,” he said.

A trash can sometimes in the background?

Furthermore, according to Théo Malini, the challenges launched by Alan FoodChallenge are much less impressive when performed in front of witnesses.

Finally, Théo Malini mentions editing “errors” in certain videos of the “crazy dining room”, suggesting, according to him, the presence of a regularly moved garbage can. In a new video posted Friday, Theo Malini finally shows footage of Alan spitting out bites out of a taco, footage from a since-deleted video.

A live challenge to answer the charges.

Alan FoodChallenge decided to respond to the allegations in a story posted to his Instagram account on Friday. Acknowledging having made a “false” video, he assures that he is “the only one” in this case.

To put an end to the debate, Alan FoodChallenge gives “appointment” to his followers on Sunday night on Twitch for a new challenge, this time broadcast live.
