The blue valleys, the meadows and the flowers are there… but the mountain girl has changed a lot. A fake movie trailer. Heidi generated by artificial intelligence has caused many reactions on social networks, as funny as they are very uncomfortable.
One look is enough to understand the origin of the video and to cause a movement of fear, in general. In just 1 minute 15, the video uploaded to Twitter is a series of nightmarish smiles, faces that liquefy, flying oxen, cows-sheep and other unreal scenes like this cinema populated entirely by animals. All this accompanied by the cult credits of the cartoon, which gives the whole an air of feverish delirium.
For better or for worse, this result is now within everyone’s reach. The user behind this video explains On twitter having used Runway Gen-2, a free generative AI that works on pretty much the same principle as Midjourney: type a description of a few words, and the program will generate a few-second video clip that’s supposed to represent your description.
The important word is “assumed”: video generation AIs are still far from ultra-realistic renderings of Midjourney, as this clip of Will Smith eating spaghetti that had terrorized the networks reminds us. But in less than a few months, these programs have shown impressive progress, which now amuses Internet users as much as it worries many artists.
