Like our bank cards or our loyalty cards, the Vitale card could soon see the appearance of a digital double, available at any time on smartphones. According to the parisian, before the end of 2022 an experiment will be launched in eight departments (Bas-Rhin, Loire-Atlantique, Puy-de-Dôme, Saône-et-Loire, Sarthe, Seine-Maritime, Rhône and Alpes-Maritimes) , to the insured who so wish. It should be generalized in 2023, without replacing the physical version.
More features to come
The operation of this digital Vitale card (whose first tests date back to 2019) is quite basic, at least for those who are used to using a smartphone: to dematerialize your Vitale card, you will need to download an application (called ApCV) and prove your identity. recording a short video of your face, which will be compared to the photo on your ID card. Once the operation has been carried out and the link with the social security number has been established, the digital vital card will appear in the application.
It is this same application that should be used in pharmacies. As with mobile payment, the user can then scan their vital card by touching their mobile to a dedicated terminal, or even generate a QR code that can be scanned.
According to the parisianthe application is intended to accommodate other functions, for example, allowing a third party to use this digital Vitale card, in particular when the insured is unable to travel.
Note that this project is different from the idea of the Vitale biometric card, carried by some elected officials. The latter would still be physical but would integrate a chip that would store biometric information such as a fingerprint, verified at each visit to the pharmacy. A hypothesis mentioned regularly but that has never seen the light of day.
