At more than 1000 euros per smartphone, the news has something shocking. Several iPhone 14 and 14 Pro users are alerting about the loss of charging capacity.
The journalist Sam Kohl indicated in early August that the maximum charge of his iPhone 14 had dropped by 10%, after only one year of use.
A Wall Street Journal journalist mentions a maximum capacity of 88% of his battery for his iPhone 14 Pro.
Since then, many customers have posted quite similar scores on social media.
Significant falls for a premium smartphone -although there are counterexamples- and a rather embarrassing controversy for Apple, which is about to announce its new iPhone 15 next month.
The issue of batteries is not new for the American manufacturer, which had to face a “batterygate” on its iPhone 6, iPhone 6S and iPhone SE. In January 2017, an iOS update significantly slowed down the performance of some phones. Apple had admitted to restricting processors to preserve aging batteries.
After several lawsuits and hundreds of millions of dollars spent to compensate its customers, the brand is still in the crosshairs of a class action lawsuit in the UK.
