This is one of the fights that Twitch has been trying to lead for several months: ending cyberbullying of streamers, especially women. The live video streaming service will thus launch a new measure that should make it possible to alleviate the feeling of impunity for certain malicious Internet users.
According to streamer Zach Bussey, Twitch should soon allow streamers to block people banned by them from accessing their content. In a screenshot shared on Twitter, we can see in the Twitch settings a new toggle button dedicated to this action, where we also find other options that allow for an optimal user experience.
overridable feature
The streamer can, for example, decide whether or not to activate requests to unban, but can also choose a period of time during which people must “follow” them in order to write messages in the chat. These different parameters can be found in the creator mode panel and then in the “Moderation” and “Channel Privileges” tab.
However, there is a size limit to the new Twitch feature: as some netizens pointed out, simply logging out of their account would allow the banned person to instantly regain access to the live stream. However, it should allow slowing down certain internet users.
As Tech&Co noted, this new feature is currently not available to users. In any case, this remains in line with the measures put in place by the platform for several months.
In particular, Twitch had decided to launch a shield mode that allows, thanks to an all-in-one button, to activate all available security tools, as well as a function to choose words or expressions that would instantly ban the Internet user who uses them. .use in chat. Measures implemented to respond to boycotts and controversies against the platform, accused of not doing enough to protect streamers.
