The actor has voiced Mario and the other main characters in the video game series since Super Mario 64released in 1996. However, it will remain in the Nintendo ecosystem.

Behind the original voice of Mario, there is an actor named Charles Martinet. Nintendo announced in a tweet on August 21 that the actor would no longer play the famous character, but that he would continue to do so and “represent him around the world.”

The actor lent his voice for the first time in Mario’s FUNDAMENTALS (1995) but rose to fame with Super Mario 64. Recognizable for its originality, it gave a true identity to the famous character. So much so that in 2018 he was included in the Guinness World Records for having made the most recordings for a single video game character. In fact, he has voiced the character over 100 times. the last being Wonder of Super Mario Bros..

In the film, Super Mario Released in 2023, Charles Martinet also made a special appearance, not as Mario, but as Guiseppe, his father.

During these long years, Charles Martinet not only voiced Mario, but also Luigi, Wario or Waluigi.

At the moment, Nintendo has not designated a replacement to replace him, but the company indicates that it will publish “soon a special video message from Shigeru Miyamoto and Charles himself.”

Shigeru Miyamoto has been the CEO of Nintendo since 1977, so these are two Nintendo giants who should be talking real soon.
