Facebook: How to disable algorithms to access the news section of the timeline

Facebook users have the option to disable the platform’s recommendation algorithm to display their news chronologically.

With its recommendation algorithm, Facebook determines and offers you the content that is likely to interest you. But maybe you prefer to see your friends’ posts in chronological order?

In any case, Facebook no longer has a choice. With the application, from this Friday, August 25, of the Digital Act Service (DSA), the platform must now offer users the possibility of showing the contents in order of publication, as in its beginnings. A procedure that remains hidden in the interface configuration.

How to enable the timeline on Facebook

  • Click on your profile picture at the top right of the home screen. Next, tap on the “Threads” tab
  • Scroll across the screen to choose the type of content you want to see. You can choose between “Friends”, “Favorites”, “Pages” or “Groups”. All posts will be displayed in chronological order.

Please note that Facebook does not maintain chronological news feeds as the default setting. You must systematically renew the operation every time you open the application. A rather restrictive aspect of this functionality.
