The arrival of the PlayStation Portal is becoming clearer. According to a post published this Friday, September 1, on the PlayStation France X account (formerly Twitter), French players will be able to get hold of the new Sony accessory from November 15, 2023.
Those in a hurry can now pre-order the device, sold from 219.99 euros in the PlayStation Direct store. Clarifications that follow the official presentation of the name, price and characteristics of the device on August 23.
Wi-Fi connection, but no Bluetooth
PlayStation Portal is not a new standalone portable console from Sony. It is a device that allows you to play remotely through Remote Play the games installed on the PlayStation 5 from the player’s home. To do this, the device must connect to the same Wi-Fi network as the latter.
It is also possible to take a PlayStation Portal away from home to play remotely, also through a Wi-Fi network. In fact, the Portal is primarily designed to continue a game in the event that the television in the house is busy.
In terms of features, Sony’s remote reading device has an 8-inch LCD panel with a speed of 60 frames per second and capable of offering 1080p definition. In addition, it integrates all the features of the DualSense controller: haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
Otherwise, the device does not include a Bluetooth connection, which prevents you from connecting a wireless headset of your choice. Players will need to use PlayStation headsets equipped with a proprietary link called “PlayStation Link”.
