Would your life have been completely different if you had been “nice”? Elon Musk almost calls himself “Nice,” says his biographer Walter Isaacson in the billionaire’s biography. “The story might have been different, or at least funny, if the boy had had to live his life as Nice Musk,” he writes.
This idea actually comes from his father, the controversial Errol Musk, with whom Elon has a very complicated relationship. According to Numerama, little Elon was conceived in the Riviera city in 1970 during his parents’ honeymoon.
A dark Playboy story
The marriage could also have ended there, as the wife, Maye, argued with her husband (from whom she is now divorced) over a story in an erotic magazine. Obviously, Errol Musk had a habit of filling his suitcases with Playboy, which was then banned in South Africa, the family’s country of origin.
Maye Musk even imagined ending this marriage that had barely begun but it turns out that she became pregnant with her son on the second day of her stay in Nice. “It was now impossible to go back,” she says in her biography.
Still, Nice was the first name considered before Elon was finally chosen, a tribute to his great-grandfather.
