Music streaming service Spotify introduced Jam on September 26, a system of shared playlists that can be listened to remotely by multiple people.
Therefore, it is now possible, by sharing, to listen to the same music remotely and at the same time with your friends and share a complete playlist to which everyone can add the music of their choice.
Only Premium account users can use this new remote mode, while free account users can benefit from it via Bluetooth but still add songs to the playlist.
At a party, for example, all participants can add the songs they want. Only the host can determine the playback order, remove titles from the playlist, or even choose who can be a member or not.
Remote or not
To start a Jam playlist, you must click on the “speaker” icon (represented by a speaker and a tablet) that appears in the title you are listening to. The words “Start a Jam” appear there, just click to see the different invitation options.
To invite members, three options are proposed: via Bluetooth, to access the telephones of the participants, to scan your friends with a QR Code (if you have the playlist), or to send a part line via SMS or sur social networks.
In 2022, Spotify, which recently raised its prices for the first time, had already launched collaborative playlists and “multimixes.” Jam is in a way a fusion of these different functions, with, in addition, the possibility of simultaneous listening.
