Something new from Xiaomi. The Chinese manufacturer presented two new high-end smartphones, the Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro, at a conference held in Berlin this week. Two devices that aim at the premium market, but with a very aggressive price positioning.
The two smartphones follow the lines of the versatile and excellent in photography Xiaomi 13 Pro presented last February. They also trust the recipe of this high-end model, although they make some concessions. There is a fairly classic design with a glass back (black and green versions) or “vegan leather” (blue).
An air of déjà vu
The Xiaomi 13T changes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor of its largest by a Dimensity 8200-Ultra chip from MediaTek, accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage capacity. In terms of connectivity, the device supports Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6.
For its part, the Xiaomi 13T Pro has a more powerful processor: the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ associated with 12 or 16 GB of RAM and has up to 1 TB of storage capacity. If it also supports Bluetooth 5.4, it is one of the first devices that is already ready for WiFi 7, certainly not yet implemented with its ultra-fast speeds.
Available in three colors (black, blue, green), both devices, IP68 certificate For protection against water and dust, they have the same Gorilla Glass 5 screen.
It is a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel clocked at 144Hz with an advertised brightness of 1,200 nits in high brightness and 2,600 nits in HDR. To power their respective batteries with a capacity of 5000 mAh, the two smartphones integrate fast charging functionality: 67 W for the Xiaomi 13T and 120 W for the Xiaomi 13T Pro.
A section of photographs (still) signed by Leica.
But the ambitions of the newcomers lie mainly at the level of photography, where they benefit from Xiaomi’s always winning partnership with Leica, the German photography specialist. The Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro are therefore equipped with an identical triple photographic module: a 50 Mpx main sensor, a 12 Mpx wide-angle sensor and a 50 Mpx telephoto lens that offers a 2x optical zoom.
The collaboration between both companies allows the two terminals to offer two original Leica photographic styles and six filters, including two new ones: Leica Sepia and Leica Blue.
