The government maintains the goal of “generalizing” fiber optics by 2025, while the historic copper network of the operator Orange, the only source of access to the telephone network for several million French people, must be closed by 2030.
In an interview given to the Tribune on Sunday, the delegate minister responsible for Digital, Jean-Noël Barrot, announced the extension of aid to access very high speed to 7 million homes that do not have the right to fiber.
He adds that “he decided to extend it to the entire national territory, and to the 7 million homes that still do not have the right to fiber.” This “strong measure at the service of” territorial planning “will be” effective at the beginning of next year.
