They find the body of an old woman missing for two years thanks to Google Street View

Paulette had not shown any signs of life since November 2020. An investigator found her after inspecting images taken by the Google Street View virtual navigation service.

For two years, the police of Andenne (Belgium) have been looking for Paulette Landrieux. This 83-year-old woman and mother of four children was last seen on Monday, November 2, 2020. But since then, no trace.

At that time, the police put in place many technical and human resources, recalls L’Avenir. However, nothing advances the investigation. It is even considered that the octogenarian may have fallen into the Meuse, the local river. As the investigation progresses, the field of investigation expands.

The woman captured on the way to a neighbor’s house

Before the file is closed, a police officer resumes the investigation on Friday, October 14. He attempts to trace the last moments of the woman before her disappearance. To do this, he walks through Paulette Landrieux’s house on Google Street View. The virtual navigation tool uses images taken by cars circulating on all streets.

Fortunately, Paulette is visible on the Google service. A car from an American company passed just as the woman was crossing the street. Walking down the street on the tool, it is possible to see the octogenarian addressing one of her neighbors.

Police then rush to the scene and find her lifeless body. Probably fallen, she was leaning on an embankment. An autopsy must determine if death was due to a fall or discomfort.

As helicopters and sniffer dogs were mobilized, it was finally within a few hundred meters of her home where Paulette Landrieux stayed for two years. Without the neighborhood noticing.
