The most pirated series of the year 2023 comes from HBO studios: it is the first season of the video game adaptation The last of us. Although it had broken a viewership record in the legal version on the streaming platform, it has also been at the top of illegal views since its premiere in January of this year, indicates the specialized website Torrent Freak.
These download figures, published on December 25, refer to the Bit Torrent download platform, one of the most popular in the world in this area, if not the most popular.
Disney+ mostly pirated
After the HBO series, it is from the Disney+ platform that the content overflows illegally. Four Disney series follow, including two from the Star Wars universe and two from Marvel Studios. The last of us: The Mandalorian, Loki, AhsokaAND secret invasion.
We also find three new Apple TV+ series: Silo, Monarch: Legacy of MonstersAND Ted Lasso. They are respectively in sixth, seventh and last position. Finally, the series tulsa king from Paramount+ and Generation V from Amazon Prime, a spin-off of the successful series BoysThey are also part of the ranking.
Netflix is missing from the ranking
In previous years, the ranking was largely dominated by HBO’s medieval fantasy saga, game of Thrones during its broadcast period, then through its spin-off, Dragon Housein 2022. In 2020 and 2021, two Disney+ series led the way: The Mandalorianwhose first season premiered in November 2019, and the Marvel series Wandavision.
In recent years, except for the occasional series at the bottom of the ranking, Netflix almost never appears there. This is explained, in particular, by the number of users of the platform, but also by the fact of sharing accounts, something that is now prohibited.
