As winter approaches, small daily actions can help lower your energy bill, which is set to rise this year. But for that, it is still necessary to be aware of the real consumption of your various appliances. These are the most recent figures, according to ADEME, the ecological transition agency.
1. Electric heating
Electric heating continues to be what consumes the most, between 1,700 and 4,300 kWh/year, depending on whether you live in a flat or in a house. It represents 60% of the annual bill, that is, approximately 290 euros and up to 730 euros for a house. The government recommends the French to stabilize the temperature at 19 degrees.
2. Hot water tank
At the center of recent debates about possible automatic cut-offs, the electric hot water tank is particularly sweet, with an average annual consumption of almost 1,700 kWh/year. For an annual cost of 275 euros.
3. The combined refrigerator
The refrigerator consumes an average of 174 kWh/year, which means 60 euros on the bill. The freezer is 300 kWh/year. And up to 346 kWh/year for a combined model. The ideal is to maintain a temperature between 4 and 5 degrees and not drop below -18 degrees for the freezer.
4. The dryer and the washing machine
The dryer consumes about 300 kWh/year, that is, an amount of 50 euros per year. A washing machine consumes 101 kWh/year, for an expense of 17 euros.
5. The dishwasher
The dishwasher represents an average of almost 30 euros on the bill with a consumption of around 200 kWh/year. To lower the note, you have to opt for the energy saving mode, which is longer, but consumes less energy.
6. Television
The television consumes approximately 187 kWh/year and the TV decoder up to 87 kWh/year. A plasma screen can consume up to 400 kWh/year or 60 euros per year. An LED or even OLED screen, on the other hand, makes it possible to reduce energy consumption.
7. Lighting
Lighting represents 147kWh/year or 10% of the energy consumption of a home. The trick is to replace the bulbs with energy-saving LEDs. The purchase cost is higher but the useful life is longer, with consumption ten times less than that of a conventional light bulb.
8. The electric oven
An electric oven consumes 146 kWh/year, that is, an amount of 23 euros in the annual bill. The little trick is to turn off the oven a few minutes before the end of cooking.
9. Computer
A laptop consumes 22 kWh/year but a desktop computer can reach up to 123 kWh/year, which is around 20 euros. To reduce consumption, it is advisable to turn it off instead of leaving it on standby. A wifi box it can consume between 92 and 72 kWh/year per year, that is, an amount of 15 euros.
10. Game consoles
Consumption varies greatly depending on the type of console, but these represent approximately 100 kWh/year. Again, they should be turned off when not in use.
