After low-cost subscriptions with advertising, Netflix launches “profile transfer”

The platform is launching a tool that will keep your history and other settings from an existing profile when creating a new account.

“People move. Families grow. Relationships evolve. Life is made of changes, but your experience with Netflix must remain constant,” it can be read on the site of the famous streaming platform since Monday. Starting this week, it’s possible to “transfer your profile” to create a new Netflix account, which aims to fight code sharing.

This novelty will allow users to keep “your personalized recommendations, your history, your list, your saved games and other settings,” continues the brand.

This option comes a few days after the arrival of a new cheaper subscription package was formalized, at 5.99 euros per month. Available from November 3, it will now include advertising between the programs watched.

Million account shares

A way for the brand to recover some of the old subscribers who had deserted the platform after successive price increases. But also to fight against shared code, which causes the platform to lose a substantial sum… and of which Netflix does not know the scope in France.

Second, Netflix France claimed that the 5 million figure was wrong, claiming that it was unable to quantify the number of households using its service without paying in the country.

According to Netflix France, the figure of 5 million, repeated several times by Damien Bernet, would only be an extrapolation of the estimate that Netflix gives for the whole world.
