Expected since the beginning of the year, Paramount+ will officially arrive in France on December 1. The streaming platform will be available on the internet or via an app. New name of CBS All Access from March 2021, this new service will be based on the catalog of the Hollywood film studio to enhance its content catalog.
While the previous day NBCUniversal announced the launch of Universal+ at the end of the year, it is Paramount’s turn to reveal its intentions for the French market. The service will be offered at 7.99 euros per month or 79.90 euros per year, it specifies the echoes. The business daily also reports a partnership between Paramount and Canal+ to include the service in its Canal+ Ciné Séries offer.
Great classics and contrasted series
To differentiate itself in the increasingly competitive broadcast market, Paramount+ will have a number of key assets. Among the films there will be great classics such as the trilogy The Godfather or the saga Indiana Jones.
This summer, the platform chained contracts to provide its catalog with new exclusive content. So the series Criminal minds, discontinued in 2019 after 15 seasons, will resume service. Paramount+ also secured 14 new South Park movies in August as part of a $900 million deal. The cartoon will be one of the strong points of the offer with titles such as sponge Bob, paw patrol either rugrats.
Whether the catalog will appeal to long-term audiences remains to be seen. A complex challenge as Internet users increasingly tend to cancel their subscriptions to streaming services after viewing content that interests them.
