At least Elon Musk got it. By encouraging MrBeast to post a video on X (Twitter), he hoped to show all content creators that they could make money on his social network. With a single post, the most popular American YouTuber in the world generated $260,000.
Pressured by Elon Musk to spread his famous videos (normally reserved for YouTube) on Twitter, MrBeast finally relented last week by publishing a video already published on YouTube 4 months ago (where it has 216 million views).
So the numbers are there: 161 million views on Twitter in just a few days and, therefore, this extraordinary check for $260,000.
“Facade” figure
In fact, shortly after the video was published, the head of Shopify was quick to announce that it had integrated its advertising.
It also remains to be seen if Elon Musk artificially inflated the number of views, exposing him to more users to encourage him to post more on Twitter. A practice of which he has been periodically accused since the acquisition of Twitter. Furthermore, the fact that Elon Musk himself shares the sequence is at the origin of an important part of the views generated.
MrBeast had already revealed that another video posted on YouTube had earned him $167,000 for 100 million views. On paper, Twitter’s offer seems more interesting, but there is nothing to say that future videos will generate as much money. The YouTuber also announced that he will donate the amount earned on Twitter to 10 people chosen at random on the social network.
