The Moon hides a piece of the Sun this Tuesday, in a partial eclipse of about two hours that must be observed carefully, even if it does not darken the sky. In France, the phenomenon began around 11:15 a.m. in the north of the country, 11:30 a.m. in the south and ended around 1:00 p.m., an event that the Paris Observatory offers to watch live on Youtube, through video next.
In France, the eclipse can be observed, if the sky is clear, looking at the Sun with adapted and new glasses, to avoid eye burns. Amateur astronomers can also use magnification and filtering instruments, available at centers that organize an observation.
This is the sixteenth partial solar eclipse of the 21st century, and the second this year, visible over the South Pacific. In metropolitan France, the last partial eclipse dates from June 10, 2021.
