On October 16, the city of Arcachon organized an event to announce great news to its inhabitants. It was the day of the launch of free access to ChatGPT. From that day on, residents can use the paid version of the OpenAI chatbot for free, which costs 22.99 euros per month.
By offering this subscription, the city’s mayor, Yves Foulon, aims to allow the inhabitants of Arcachon to access a quality digital service, indicates the municipality’s website.
Consider that, unlike Google, ChatGPT “is not limited to assigning data, but rather solves problems, writes documents and makes everyone’s daily lives easier,” according to the Actu.fr site.
A chatbot prone to making mistakes
The city of Arcachon believes that OpenAI’s chatbot can be useful for all its residents, from teenagers to seniors. The former can, for example, use it as help with homework or creative support while the latter can, among other things, get personalized health advice with this AI.
ChatGPT, however, can make mistakes, as OpenAI reminds each query, encouraging users to “check important information.”
To use the chatbot for free, residents must obtain a personal code, which they can retrieve by going to a neighborhood center or at the reception of the MA.AT (intergenerational living space located in the heart of the city) with proof of address .
