Jack Sweeney, known for stalking famous airplanes on social media, can no longer do so on Meta platforms. As reported by the American student on X (formerly Twitter), the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and Threads suspended the accounts it used for this purpose.
Celebrities whose jets followed on Instagram and Threads include Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, but also Elon Musk, Kim Kardashian and Donald Trump. Links to these accounts now display a message stating that the page is unavailable.
A risk of physical harm.
In his message, Jack Sweeney complains that he did not receive any notice before these accounts were suspended, although he had been when Meta had blocked other accounts, including the one following Taylor Swift’s jet.
“What is even more worrying is that I have not received any communication from Meta – no warning, no explanation… Worse still, I cannot even appeal these suspensions through the Meta Supervisory Board (the body that makes decisions in terms of content moderation, editor’s note)”, lamented the student.
Jack Sweeney evokes a “sense of déjà vu” regarding these new suspensions, in reference to the blocking of his accounts on X. In December 2022, the account used to follow Elon Musk’s jet had been deleted. To return to the platform, the student had created a new one with information about the flight of the billionaire’s private jet, but with a delay of 24 hours. He did the same with the one dedicated to Taylor Swift.
