It’s less known, but Waze is a Google subsidiary. If the application has since seen some of its functions reach Google Maps, several of them remain confined to Waze, as is the case with the new functions that the search giant has just announced.
More security without touching the screen
When you are in your vehicle and notice an accident, and to avoid having to navigate through the application menus to report it, you can now use your voice. Thanks to the “Voice Reports” function, just say “Traffic ahead” (for example) and Waze will add a point of interest on the topic and inform other motorists arriving in the area.
Currently only available in a trial version and in English, this feature will be brought to the rest of the world (and in French) in “the coming months.”
“School Zones” are also added to this. By the end of the year, the navigation system will take into account the presence of nearby schools. A warning may then appear to inform the driver to take extra care and moderate speed, even if this is usually indicated by speed signs.
These two new features will soon arrive in the French version of Waze, both for iOS and Android. Enough to guarantee safe trips.
