Caetano Storm: Free and SFR announce outages that affect their network

Free reported several outages to its network, caused by “complicated weather conditions” due to Storm Caetano. SFR also had difficulties.

Winter Storm Caetano not only left many homes without power. Some also have telephone and Internet connection problems, whether with Free, SFR, Orange or Bouygues.

Problems with all operators.

12 departments are “partially impacted,” the operator said. These include Calvados, Eure et Loir, Loire-Atlantique and Vendée. “Our teams remain mobilized despite the difficult conditions,” he assured, thanking his clients for their patience.

Specifically, these telecommunications outages are directly due to electrical outages, with a lack of power for the retransmission antennas (for mobile phones) but also for the equipment connected to the fixed Internet.

In addition to Free’s statements, many French people have reported problems on Downdetector. On November 21, two peaks were recorded at this site, with more than 100 reports recorded in the afternoon and evening. The most reported problems were and continue to be linked to the internet (71%), mobile telephony (18%) and television broadcasting (11%) this Friday, November 22.

The same goes for other operators, in particular SFR. On X (formerly Twitter), some users have complained about network problems. From Tech&Co, SFR specifies that it has several affected sites.
