The year 2024 has been a busy one for Apple, at least in terms of announcements. The American giant began selling its Apple Vision Pro, launched its internal artificial intelligence, Apple Intelligence, and celebrated ten years of the Apple Watch. Added to this are the traditional iPhone as well as iPad Air and Pro.
If the financial results were ultimately not as good as expected, Apple hopes to take advantage of this year 2025 and especially of its new products.
· A new affordable iPhone and an ultra-thin iPhone
While Apple recently removed the iPhone SE from sale In France, the first product of the year could be his successor. If the company sticks to the launch schedule of previous generations, it would be presented in spring, between March and April. A date that would also coincide with the arrival in Europe and other places of Apple Intelligence.
In terms of design, this iPhone SE will not look like its predecessors, which adopted the format of the iPhone 8. It should no longer have thick edges and the physical button should also disappear. According to rumors, this new iPhone SE would look more like the iPhone 14 and would be equipped with a USB-C port for charging.
In September, Apple will also present the iPhone 17. A range that could also house a new model, currently known as “Air” or “Slim”. It would be the thinnest iPhone since the iPhone 6 (6.9 mm thick). It could also do without a SIM card drawer in favor of the eSIM, thus allowing internal reorganization of the device. Like the iPhones in the Pro range, it would also be equipped with a “ProMotion” OLED screen, for better autonomy, as well as better fluidity.
· Apple Intelligence arrives in the EU
Available in some countries, starting with the United States, from the end of October, Apple Intelligence will soon be available in the European Union and, therefore, in France from next April.
Available in French, this set of AI-powered features will allow users to ask an enhanced Siri questions or even “find the right words” in messages or emails. As a reminder, only owners of an iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max or one of the four iPhone 16s will have access to Apple Intelligence.
· A Homepod with a screen for the home
A connected speaker with a screen for the home. It has been rumored for several months that this product could be presented this year. Powered by an A18 chip, similar to the one found in the iPhone 16, it would have a camera for video conferencing and could identify hand gestures using sensors. According to analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the launch of this device that will offer functions for the connected home will not occur before the summer of 2025, after WWDC.
· Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch SE 3
In September 2024, the main novelty in terms of connected watches at Apple was the presentation of the Apple Watch Series 10. For its watch intended for extreme sports, the Apple Watch Ultra, Apple has only presented a new second-generation version, in titanium black.
However, it should launch the third generation next September. Third generation that would benefit from some new features, according to Bloomberg, starting with the satellite function, available from September 2022 with the iPhone 14. It allows you to send a message even when the user does not have a cellular or Wi-Fi connection. .
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 would also be able to detect if the user suffers from high blood pressure, a disease that is characterized by hyperpressure of blood in the walls of the arteries and that is often diagnosed late due to the absence of symptoms. This feature should also be available on the Apple Watch Series 11.
In September 2025, Apple could also update its Apple Watch SE, its most affordable connected watch (from 249 euros), which has not been renewed since 2022. Little is known about this future Apple Watch SE 3, except for one important change: the La casing would no longer be made of aluminum, but rather plastic. A way for the company to make its watch even more affordable.
· New iPads
iPad Air, iPad Pro, iPad mini. In 2024, Apple has renewed almost all of its tablets. Except for the classic iPad, which is not entitled to a new version from 2022. According to Bloomberg, this should change in 2025, when Apple launches the 11th generation iPad. It would maintain the same square design, but would benefit from a speed gain with a more recent chip than the old A14 Bionic chip that equips its predecessor. This iPad could be presented at the same time as the iPhone SE 4, in spring 2025.
The same goes for the new iPad Air. According to Bloomberg, Apple is planning an 11-inch and a 13-inch version.
They would be accompanied by a new Magic Keyboard, which “will bring some of the functions of the iPad Pro keyboard,” indicates the financial information agency without giving more details.
According to information from the Upgrade podcast, transmitted by the 9to5mac site, these iPad Airs could also be equipped with a screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, compared to the 60 Hz of those launched in 2024. One way to improve the fluidity of these tablets without reaching the level of the iPad Pro (120 Hz with ProMotion technology).
While the latest iPad Air works with the M2 chip, the two new ones would benefit from the M3 chip or the M4 chip, introduced with the iPad Pro last May.
Finally, Apple could present a new iPad Pro at the end of 2025. Few details are known about this future tablet. The main rumor is that it will be powered by an M5 chip, which has not yet been officially announced.
· Macbook Air with M4 chip
Having refreshed the Macbook Pro, Mac mini and iMac in 2024, Apple should do the same with the Macbook Air this year. According to Bloomberg, the company will introduce a 13-inch model and a 15-inch model. The only new feature of these computers is that they would be equipped with the M4 chip.
A new Mac Studio and a new Mac Pro, computers aimed at professionals, could see the light of day in 2025, both powered by the M4 chip.
· An Airtag with better range
Since its launch in 2021, the Airtag has not been renewed. This would change in 2025, with a new version that will allow users to find their lost items more easily thanks to a greater range. It would go from 10 meters indoors and 30 meters outdoors to 90 meters.
