Eric Frohnhoefer, an engineer at Twitter for eight years, learned of his firing on November 14 in a tweet from his new boss, Elon Musk. After his eviction, he denounces in the media Forbes the methods of the new management. While half of Twitter’s 7,000 employees have been fired or resigned since the network’s acquisition, Elon Musk is now firing people, in real time, in the form of simple tweets.
Eric Frohnhoefer worked at Twitter for the Android operating system. On November 13, the head of Twitter tweeted that he wanted to “apologize that Twitter is very slow in many countries.” A few hours later, Eric Frohnhoefer responded: “I’ve spent about 6 years working on Twitter for Android and I can say it’s wrong.” The next day, Elon Musk fires his employee in a tweet (which he has since deleted) saying simply “he’s hot.”
No Twitter communication
Five hours later, access to his work computer is cut off. The engineer, who shared a screenshot of his now-inaccessible machine, says he did not receive any official communication from the company at the time about his firing. “They are cowards” he believes Forbesreferring to the management team of Twitter.
For him, the new governance of Twitter is a “fall”. He explains that: “nobody trusts anyone in the company anymore”. “How can a company function? The employees do not trust the new management. The management does not trust the employees, ”he laments. Eric Frohnhoefer remains “concerned” about the near future of Twitter, particularly how employees are treated.
Another engineer, Ben Leib, has has also been fired after calling out his new boss, while Musk calls himself a “free speech absolutist.” Twitter has also dissolved its public relations department since the acquisition on October 28.
