The enthusiasm for AI-generated images is undeniable. Last variation to date: the creation through it of fake profile photos for dating applications and social networks. Purpose of the operation: appear in your best light.
Outfit adapted to the platform
As reported by the American site Vice, an online tool called PhotoAI already offers to use selfies to produce a batch of profile photos tailored specifically to the style or platform of your choice. All for the modest sum of 19 dollars (about 18 euros). For example, a user who resorts to the “LinkedIn” option will get photos of himself dressed in a suit or work clothes, while the “Tinder” option promises to make him “cuter than he ever was.”
Some features allow you to create artistic polaroids, make portraits inspired by the aesthetics of popular artists, even embed yourself in shots with celebrities. After sending the photos, the site promises to return them processed by its artificial intelligence within 12 hours. Similar services have appeared in recent months. For a fee, various tools, such as DALL-E 2 or Midjounrey, use AI to generate images not from selfies, but from simple texts.
The legislation is not yet clear
The rise of artificial intelligence imagers is controversial. Some working artists complain about these services, arguing that they reproduce their style based on their works. This without your permission. While creating AI selfies can be fun, their legal and moral existence remains murky.
The legislation is also vague about AI-produced selfies, which in effect violate the terms of use of some online platforms, starting with dating apps. In fact, the latter provide rules against identity theft and false representations. But at the moment, nothing prevents anyone from flattering his ego by creating selfies retouched by artificial intelligence.
