Forms recognition, automatic seat: How do the “smart radars” work on the Parisian Ring Road?

For those who do not respect the rules, it will be a fine of 135 euros that will be prepared. Fines implemented as of May 2, 2025.

This path will be activated from Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), from 7 am to 10:30 am, after 4 pm at 8 pm, specifies road safety on its website.

Without automatic verbalization

To control motorists who do not respect this new rule, the authorities will depend on “smart radars” that have the ability to recognize the forms: “Recognition of forms, without faces, allows the distinguishing the silhouettes to find out if there are one or more people in the vehicle,” specifies the venarian of the mayor’s office of Paris, David Belliard, with BFM Business.

These radars also incorporate artificial intelligence to better identify the drivers alone in their car and circulate on the road dedicated to the shared trip. However, be careful, these are not the Radars whose implementation should not yet be defined by the Government.

David Belliard also ensures that radars can know if a car seat is empty or if there is a child present on board. In addition, a police officer will verify the catches and then decide to put a fine. There will be no automatic verbalization.

An infallible “a priori” device?

But unlike radars in the tests in the A1 and the A13, the 10 that are distributed in the device are not equipped with thermal chamber: “This would be a problem with the heat of the engine.”

Therefore, for motorists, it is a return to the summer of 2024.
