Unidentified flying objects (UFOs) have made their nest in American politics. In 2022, the Pentagon especially created an office to investigate: the last report dating from November 14 estimated that of the 757 reports received from all over the world in a year, 21 deserve a more in -depth analysis. At the end of May 2023, NASA celebrated its first public meeting on the study of UFOs.
But in France, this topic “is probably the most underestimated estimates” in BFMTV Sylvain Maisonneuve, former Bercy advisor, who wrote UFOs, declassified research (Ed. Albin Michel) published this Thursday, May 8. However, “he raises absolutely strategic problems and questions,” he said, stating that LinkedIn is interested in this issue “for a long time” without being a specialist in the subject.
A “radioactive” theme
“In France, we still consider as it is something that comes from conspiracy, science fiction or sectarian aberrations, while in the United States it has become a true problem of public debate,” abounds the former ministerial advisor who remained in Bercy from 2020 to 2025.
When asked about this in the columns of the Parisians, he abounds: “That is not to say something completely ridiculous or aberrant of the ‘ufo = alien’, ‘extraterrestrial = invasion’. That is for Hollywood movies.”
“It’s wondering, faced with incidents of diverse intensity, how we can react,” he said.
Sylvain Maisonneuve demands that the Ministry of the Armed Forces “structured” “be the ability to obtain information, to collect data” to “make strategic analysis and anticipation”. However, he pointed out that France was “pioneer” by creating in 1977 a “civil body”, today the Geipan, responsible for raising testimonies.
“My experience in ministry taught me one thing: what we believe is impossible, because the lack of having still understood is often what ends up surprising us,” is justified in a LinkedIn post.
Within the Ministry of Economy, its “intrigued” project, or was even perceived by some as “a risk of its reputation.” “But we cannot regret it that the subject is erroneously radioactive and you do not continue and leave something under your name,” said Sylvain Maisonneuve.
“Without evidence (…) extraterrestrial” discovered by the pentagon
In this book, Prosol’s new strategy director, says Decrypt recently videos and documents of the Pentagon. QR Codes redirect readers to the images described or even debates in the United States Congress on the subject.
Among the cases analyzed? The “Tic Tac giant”. Between the summer of 2014 and March 2015, the soldiers of an American Aeronaval group said that they saw California in “a white object that is approximately the size of a combat plane” without windows or “visible propulsion means”, says Sylvain Maisonneuve in BFMTV.
This UFO “was able to reach absolutely extraordinary speeds, acceleration forces that are completely incompatible with what we can do,” he says.
Keep in mind that the Pentagon specifies in its latest report on the subject to date, “no evidence of extraterrestrial beings, activity or technology has not been discovered.”
Sylvain Maisonneuve, himself, agrees that “most of the observations made today by civilians have completely reasonable explanations”, such as Starlink satellites, drones, asteroids or “poorly known” climatic phenomena such as blue jets.
